My car had been running as good as it ever has. In fact I just recently ran my best time at the track but now I am getting Knock at 3K rpm and above. It happened the day before I went to the strip but went away the same day. then re-appered 3 days later and worse then before. then same night it got better (actually went away) then came back, went away came back on and on. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the granatelli MAF that I put on? I have had it on for about 2K miles with no problem then bam it starts. I had not just added new (read: crappy) fuel, it started at about 1/4 of a tank that I had filled up on.
I'll probably try and put my old MAF back in (without the screen) and see if that helps but why would it just start now????
Knocks during the day, not at night? Could be you are right at the edge, and the heat puts you over into knock. I have been chasing my tail trying to tune with LS1 Edit, and determined my knock was bad gas related.
You might want to check with a GM dealer last time I was there, they told me about a service bulletin relating to a intermittent pinging or knock problem. It was the sensor under the intake manifold on top the valley cover. Might be related might not............ maybe worth a shot.
No it comes and goes hot or cold doesn't seem to matter. It has been doing it consistantly since last night. Not as bad as when it re-appeared but still not right. I added an octane booster but no luckand have used gas from two different stations. (Shell & BP).I don't know I'm gonna try and put the old maf in tonight and see if that helps.
