Just bought new targa top side weatherstrip retainers for my 2001 C5 Coupe. What are the little metal clips with a rubber coated tip that go under retainers, and do I really need to put them back on?

For what it is worth.

If GM spent the money to have them made and put them on...they are on there for a reason that they found was required. Often times it may be disputed...but sure as for shooting..If I left them off...it would come back and "bite" me.
