So, i think the fumes are getting to me now after having been CATless for the past couple years.

Has anyone had good luck with the barrel type hi-flow cats? Will they completely eliminate the fumes?

LOL!! You wont be the last person to revert back to CATs

I have had RANDOM TECHNOLOGIES Cats on my 02 Z for years. NO ISSUES! Yes,, they work!

I will say that some say, that the TUNE has a LOT to do with the smell of the exhaust but having CATs sure does help.

By the way,, They only cost you 5-6 HP

I was catless for a couple years. After too many head aches & tired of the exhaust stink, I installed the LG metal cats. NO MORE STINK! No tuning will stop the stink in a catless vehicle, and the bigger the cam, the greater the stink.

Thank you, finally a tuner agrees with me.

Been saying this on various boards for a while now and everyone is so stubborn about it.

YOU CAN'T TUNE IT OUT! You can play with end of injection timing, run open loop and command a lean idle all you want, but the stink will remain and it sticks to every thing.

The best solution I found was to command a RICH afr, so at least it smelled like an old carbed muscle car instead.

Stock cammed cars are mostly ok, it smells good actually. But even cams with -5 overlap stink horribly.

try a 210 cell cat really wont affect horsepower whatsoever and youll probably like the exhaust note even more (better growl)

A lot of it has to do with the cam and the tune. I have the older ceramic coated mild steel TSP headers and X pipe on my 00 and with a 228R cam and tuned by Lashway Motorsports in S Florida there is no smell at all.

Even the cheapest aftermarket cats with the bare minimum amount of platinum or palladium in them will improve the smell considerably.

I've always heard that platinum is the major one (what you are getting paid for when you scrap cats) but they use all three and others.
