ECS DIY Tension Thread?
Does anyone know the gates part # I need? It was a 30 dollar part and that is a lot better than the 200+ option that ECS is offering me. Any info is apprectiated.
I really hope ECS isn't having these threads pulled, this is the tech section and we should be encouraged to share information freely. If they want to sell a 30 dollar part for 200+ that is just fine. This is America. But you can't censor people who want a DIY solution!

2, it is machined to fit our custom double bearinged steel coated idler
3, we have a custom spring manufactured to increase pressure and turn the direction of that tensioner around from it's original manufactured design.
4, We have an updated design as of a few years ago, so the replacement includes a new bracket/spacers/idler as well
If you are in the position of having more time then money, or just like the DIY experience, we can sell just the idler, or just the spring to you if you like. It may save you $50-75 I would guess, but you would still need to machine the new tensioner housing also. If that is not within your means to have a bridgeport on hand, you may just break even with a lot of work.
Good luck with it though if you choose to take it on yourself, it's not quit as easy as you made it out to seem though, so think it threw.
For those interested, this is a 50 dollar 1-2 hr DIY. Please PM me if you want instructions.
It really isn't right for a particular company to keep deleting this info from the forum!
This is a killer DIY project! It's pretty much a modded gates tensioner. I wasn't wanting to spend hundreds of dollars for a new tensioner. With his parts list and 1-2 hours, you can do it for 50 bucks
