Default Why can't I lower?

I was following the directions, minus the cutting, on the forum, and in a couple of posts perfectly, but the stupid bolt won't turn! I only tried one wheel, because what is the point of lowering the others if I can't get this one?

Anyway, I jacked the car up on the cross member, then put another jack underneath the A-frame to take the stress off. I read in one post that the bolt should be very loose after doing this. I couldn't get a socket wrench to fit because of the piece that adapts to a small socket head. It was to tall, the shock was getting in the way. So all I could use was either vice grips or a little #10 wrench. I could not get it to budge! I bench over 300lbs, so I don't think strength is the issue. What am I doing wrong? Any advice would be great!

I think you are putting the jack in the wrong place. It should be under the spring to take pressure off the bolt. Make sure to put some wood between the jack and spring though to keep from scaring it. You also might want to try some penetrating oil

If you are talking about the front bolt: one forum member had the same problem. One of the two bolts didn´t turn. So he took out the hole spring and put it on his workbench to examine it. He said that one of the bolts was fixed/stuck in the bore/thread by corrosion I think.
Maybe you try some WD40. Or do a surch to find that original thread.

The guys above are right. I did a '98 recently and the bolt was really jammed/rusted in there. Gently and slowly jack on the end of the spring a little at a time with a towel or piece of wood between the jack and the spring until you can turn the bolt ccw fairly easily. Apply WD40 first and let it sit for awhile then try it. Jack a little then try it. Jack a little more and try again and so on. Keep your eye on the car because you can lift the entire side just by jacking on the spring.

If you look at the bottom of the bolt, it's resting on the A-arm and can be jammed up against it, keeping it from rotating easily. Once the bushing is no longer touching the arm, the bolt will start to turn more freely.

Don't give up - it takes a bit of patience. :yesnod:
