It saddens me to say that i was in a collision with my 2003 zo6 this morning. Good news is the extent of the damage is the front bumper and cosmetic only......I think. The car never turned off, until i turned it off. then when i started the car next(1hr later) it fired right up but died after begining to drive about 2mph. Fired right up again, same thing. Third time was a charm. About an hour later all of a sudden after loading in on a flat bed I get a Column lock service message. Please advise and what do i need to do to rid this light forever. The car must have been serviced for the recall because it does not lock. PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks.
well first let me say sorry to hear about the crash....next do you know it was in for the recall OR does it have a CLB or similar installed that you don't know about?
First, make sure your battery is fully charged. 99.9% of these issue are due to low battery voltage.
If your column does not lock then some CL fix was put in. The CL fix uses a relay that may be failing. If the LMC5 fix was not done, then I would put one in and also disconnect the CL relay (original factory relay, not the CL fix one) and that should fix you up. The LMC5 fix does not require you to undo any previous fix.
Here is a link to help. If you scroll down it will discuss the message you are getting.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for responding and helping with the replies. I do not know what has been done to address the issue. Definitely something. because the column does not lock. So I think I will just install the LMC5 and be done with it.
