I've installed a couple 0f 224 cams on a 114LSA without programming. I'd say they were right on the edge. A 222 might be a safer bet. Again, on a 114 LSA

There is no really right answer for that question. If you were doing a cam, why not do programming. It will perform and drive much better.

You have an '01 which has much more sensitive misfire parameters. I've seen fairly mild cams in '01 up throw P0300 codes.

Looking at .050" duration numbers will only tell you part of the story. The key is overlap area which is not so easily discerned. Also intake centerline plays a role in computer compatibility.

I've seen cams with 220ish .050" duration on 112 LSA have more computer issues than a 229 .050" duration on a 114 LSA.

The other problem is the drive by wire on the C5. Without proper tuning they tend to have a lot of idle surge and stumble regardless of cam, save for the really mildest.

Our 218 cam will work on an '01 6spd w/out programming, but it really is a mild offering. It is worth 25-30 RWHP, but our 224 is really the hot ticket for gains across the board. This cam will get you another 35-40 RWHP.

I am working on some entry level PCM reprograms that will work relatively well on most cam applications that will be more cost effective. Shoot me an email and I can give you a cam and reprogram price.

I installed a 230/230 .578 114lsa in my vette and still have stock programming. I put down 421/400 at the wheels without tuning.

If you get to agressive with the cam, the car will start hunting and surging for a quality idle speed. Programming
will eliminate the unstable idle plus give you a better overall performance. Some tuners will drill a hole in the Throttle Body to help bit the programming really is the way to go.:yesnod:

I believe that Comp Cams offers a 212/218/114 ....should be no programming errors, but it's a mild cam...maybe 25 hp. Why Bother?
IMO...Go with a 224 or 226 cam WITH the programming...YOU ONLY WANT TO DO THIS ONCE and you want to feel the difference for the investment....just my .02:D

How's that working for you? Did you drill your throttle body? You are definitely leaving power on the table. Are you running an HPP3 to raise the rev limiter?
Tuning makes a world of difference on the idle quality and driveability. No more blipping the throttle when coming to a stoplight :)
