hey guys bought a 2000 c5 with low miles. took stock exhaust off and upgraded to aftermarket. aslo replaced the starter with a two long bolt truck starter. I got everything put back together today. now car will crank act like it wants to idle but then dies immediately. any ideas of what the problem could be?
Will it keep running if you step on the gas? I'd the security light flashing? CEL on? Pull and post the codes. If you don't know how, just do a search, it's easy.
Hey thanks for the suggestions. There were no codes, fuel and ingnition relays were good. Funny thing was it was a loose ground strap tuck up behind the header on drivers side. I feel dumb lol
Another quick question, do I need a different oil dipstick tube for this aftermarket exhaust system I jus installed?
If you mean because of the headers, then you likely want the matched dipstick tube and dipstick for the later year C5's. The dipstick tube for the earlier year C5's does not attach correctly with headers. DO NOT mix the tube and dipstick across years unless you don't care about knowing how much oil is really in the car.
ABSOFRIGGINLOTY! You need a 2001 + DIP STICK & TUBE. The 2001+ dip stick tube mounts to a bolt hole on the passengers head near cyl 4.
My stainless works headers have a small boss welded to one of the header tubes that allows me to use either dip stick.
Compare OIL LEVELS between the OEM dip stick and tube and the new dip stick and tube to insure that you are reading the same correct level.
