My left headlight occasionally does not pop up or close down. There is also a clicking noise (solenoid?) from the headlight area for 3-5 seconds after the engine has been turned off. Appreciate any helpful comments. Thanks, Horst
Maybe the plastic gear is worn.
This anodized aluminum gear repair kit comes with a T bracket to hold the cap better than just gluing it together after replacing the gear.
The brass gear kits don't come with this bracket.

I had the same problem and fixed it with the replacement metal motor gear. It's not too difficult of a task after I found several step by step instructions in Google search as well as YouTube videos. Just type in C5 Corvette headlight motor repair.
