Default question about window motor

window stopped working on a 2002 z06
when window stopped working i could hear the relay clicking still, and after i pulled the door panel off and got to the motor it was very hot to the touch. i pulled the motor out and bought a replacement motor and nothing change it still did the same thing.
when i dissconnect the motor from the regulator and then plug it in even with the key not in the ignition the motor starts to spin, if looking at the gear it is spinning in a counter clockwise direction. i have to hit the window switch button to get it to stop, and after about ten seconds of not spinning it will start on its own again.
it doesnt matter which button i push for the window up or down it still spins the gear in a counter clockwise direction.

i hope that kinda explains the problem im having, does that sound like maybe the window switch is bad or maybe a relay? any help would be great. and thanks in advance

It could be the switch and it is easy to test. If you know how to use an ohmmeter you can see if the Window switch is stuck or performs correctly, here is some info. These contacts are normally open.

Black- Ground

Tan- Window Down

Light Blue- Window Up

Let me know if you have any questions.

Are you sure that the regulator is not jammed/broken?

If you reread his post he says the motor is removed from the regulator and it seems to have a life of it's own.

He could have regulator issues but they are not causing the problem he describes. Looks like the switch or the door module is fubar. Testing the switch first is what I would do.

I don't think he is getting any un-commanded serial bus issues.

I also recommend to pull your DIC codes and see if it shows anything. Could show a door module issue but I doubt it. Never know unless you try.

Regulator is good. I can bypass the switch and run power straight to the window motor and it will go down. Then when I switch the wires it goes back up

figured it out, the door module was bad plugged in a known working one and now the window works fine. only thing that sucks is the new door module came from a car without the programable seats.
thanks for the help guys
