Default Fuel Gauge question

I have dealt with the fuel gauge going to zero for about a year now and decided to get in an fix it. The gauge would go full when filled up and stay there for about 50 miles, then it would go to 3/4 and after another 29 miles it would go to zero. I got the code P1432 (right fuel sender). I drained the tank and removed the sensor and sure enough the jet pump was clogged. I put the replacement sending unit in (Ebay) and it went well. Except for the fuel in the armpits. I drove the car and for the first time in a year I drove it until 1/4 tank. Here's the question, I filled it up and the fuel gauge went to 7/8. I did add a 20 oz bottle of techron (On sale 2 for 1 Autozone). Is there something the computer needs to figure out or it this the new norm?

ny fuel gauge was doing the same thing except worse.. it worked when it wanted to.. i also read the fix by using techron.. so i started going to chevron when filling up. it only took mine two tanks to clean itself out. from what your saying sounds like your contacts may be really dirty. just give it a tank or two of driving to allow the techron to do its job. then if that doesnt help.. be prepared to jump back in that tank.. gl
