I am going to take my climate control apart this week and resolder the chips in the board. I have read all about it on the forum. What I can't find is what bulbs to use for the burned out ones. I might as well change them while I am in there.
Here is some info from someone (not me) on the Forum. As a result I bought the 272-1092 bulbs.
QUOTE:
Just did this a couple days ago with my HVAC. The McMaster Carr 7219 bulbs at Radio Shack are actually part number 272-1092. Lighting looks just like factory bulbs. Actual bulbs are a little smaller.
Did a little test before putting in the bulbs. I had in the past bought the lights from McMaster-Carr for when my bulbs would burn out. Before installing now, I went to Radio Shack and bought a package of each the 1154 and 1092 bulbs. Powered them all up and the 1092 bulbs were the brightest and least yellow. The 272-1092 bulbs at Radio Shack are 7219 bulbs just like the McMaster-Carr bulbs are, but they are brighter (at least the set I have are)
But in the end I put in the 1092 bulbs from Radio Shack and I can't tell the difference from the stock bulbs. The 272-1154 bulbs are 50ma and are a tad too dim and yellow. I think those would work well in the IC around the side (i.e. options, reset buttons area) as well as the center console area (i.e. traction control switch)
I used Radio Shack #272-1154 for that and the radio
I used these since you were the first to respond and I was doing the project yesterday. I resoldered the chips (man those buggers are a lot smaller than the pics on this website would lead you to believe) and I replaced 4 bulbs. I haven't seen the display in the dark to see if the #272-1154 bulbs are any dimmer than the stock ones but in the daylight they look exactly the same to me. I put the unit back in and everything works properly again. It will sure be nice being able to see the display again. Thanks for the post on soldering the chips and thanks for the info on bulb replacement.
