Default 383 not performing

Hi everyone,

I'm new to any type of forums and this is my first go at it.
I have a 01 C5Z that I recently got rebuilt by a local shop. I decided to go with a 383 stroker, but I'm very disappointed with the performance number that it made on the dynojet. 360hp 384torque at 5k rpm it felt like a slap to the face seeing these numbers. The kit was advertised at 550 plus hp and I'm not even making stock z06 power ! I spoke with the person who built my motor and he said that my stock Z06 headers and exhaust we're preventing it from making the power. Can headers and exhaust really rob me from all that power?

Is it just stroked or do you have a heads/cam combo or any other mods? A stroked only engine won't make 550 hp, not even close, with the stock parts

It was the clutch that was bad it kept slipping on the dynojet

That sucks. Sounds to me like you're stroker engine cant breath through that stock exhaust. Also not to make you feel bad but while the heads were off you really should of had them ported to improve the flow.

The heads were ported I think I forgot to mention that. The engine is not breathing efficiently thanks to smog requiments but now that I passed smog headers will be on their way along with a new clutch

Let us know how it does with the new clutch and headers.
383 will be a sweet street engine.
