Anyone know what tool it takes to remove the IACM ? it looks like a Torx, but I cannot get one to grab enough without slipping out. Any suggestions. My idle is fluxuating pretty bad. Some times it wants to die while in gear, which is causing a lean code to show up & in turn making the check engine light go on. I thought maybe if I removed the idle control motor & cleaned it, that might solve the problem. ,??
I thought the C5 had the IAC built in to the throttle body via the tune in the Ecu to control the throttle plate in the electronic throttle body... dont believe it has a IAC like most cars..
My guess is it is elsewhere, what are the situations it dies? might be a crank position sensor...
Do you have any mods, if so what are the? has the car ever been tuned?

Do not have any mods. The idle is erratic, some times it is fine , while other times it wants to go very low or die. It is worse under load, ie... with the A/C running. I have owned the car for a year now, so don't know of the tuning history. I have not had it tuned. Thanks for your help, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
They are security bits (like they use in bathrooms to keep the thugs from taking the bathroom apart). I've also seen these fasteners in Microwave ovens to keep your average Joe out of the high voltage microwave bits. I have an entire kit with all the security bits but as the others have stated, a good cleaning of things and checking for vacuum leaks should be the 1st thing you do.
UPDATE......
I cleaned the Throttle body & MAF with the correct CRC cleaners. I also installed a K&N air filter & inspected all vacum & electrical connections.
Problem solved!!!!! It idle's smooth & seems to have a lot more power.
You guys on this forum ROCK! Thank You ! that's all I can say. Terry M.
