Power Seat Harness and Telescoping Column?
1. If I purchase the correct wire harness, will it work or do I need a different module also?
Anyone know the harness part#... used for sale do not specify column or not.
2. I imagine all I need is power to the column... but I'm an electrical donk. Would I just remove the connector and splice power from the existing harness. Which wires?
3. How about just getting the column moving temporarily to find my position... possible with external power source?
Thanks!
I can get back to you later once I review the schematics.
In the interim, pull your DIC codes in case they might provide some insight.

Splicing power may work, but I'm green on this stuff.
What's a good source for GM part #s and diagrams? Wiring diagram would be good also, but may not understand what I'm looking at.
Thanks for the response!
There are 3 connectors for the telescoping column;
2 of these connectors have 3 wires and they are for the switch and the other is for the position sensor.
The 3rd connector has only 2 wires (Red and Black) for the one motor.
These 3 connectors then go to one larger connector called C303. That one should be more accessible than the one for the motor which is very near the firewall where the motor is.
C303 has 7 wires since one for the switch goes to a separate ground. The colors are:
Orange, Pink from the switch
Red, Black from the motor
Black (or Brown), White, and Purple from the position sensor
If you look at the connector the Red and Black wires for the motor are labeled A and B on the connector and they are side by side in one corner of this connector.
If you put 12 volts on one of these and ground the other the motor will move. Switch the polarity and it will move the other way.
I will do some more research with my parts manual.
I asked you if the car originally had the Memory option.
It is not easy to figure out from the FSM what the difference is between your replacement seats and the original. Does your seat have a SCM?

So I add power to a or b and ground the other?
As a permanent solution I just need to find the right harness, but telescoping column prob includes lumbar which I don't have. Also some years didn't have column tele I think and can't find the various part #s so far.
What is SCM? I have memory seats, but seems not mirrors anymore from looking at the diagram (haven't noticed yet).
Thanks!

The SCM is the seat control module and if you have memory working to some degree you have one. You need an SCM for the telescoping column to work as designed.
I would contact one of the Corvette recyclers to get the harness that connects with the column. I tried to locate the P/N in my parts manual but had no success. A dealer could get you the number but I would just contact a recycler.
