2004 Vert with manual transmission.130,000 miles.
I changed the rear differential fluid last night took the car for a drive and did some figure 8s in an empty parking lot and everything seemed fine. Today I took it out for an easy drive and was turning out onto a busy street and lost all acceleration and a grinding noise started, but I was able to coast into a nearby parking lot. The motor is running fine, but when I let the clutch out as the car starts moving it makes a terrible grinding noise from the back. I looked for a leak and there were no leaks, I changed the rear end fluid and the stuff that came out looked clean and the new stuff made no difference. Just looking for a possible opinion on where I should start, please don't say with a new Vette.

Any help is appreciated, thank you.
Did you add the limited slip additive or was it already mixed in with the diff fluid you added?
Also, make sure the fluid you put in didn't already have the limited slip additive. If it did, too much is a bad thing and will cause slippage. Check the container to see if it already had it. If it did, you need to change the fluid out again.

Mr Patches, I see you stated in the previous post not to add limited slip additive if the fluid already has it. I purchased Lucas Oil synthetic and the bottle says no special additive needed. I bought the additive, but want to be sure before I opt out of using it based on your post. thanks...Jim
jdvann, it says its for LSD's so you're good to go. Fill your diff with the fluid until it starts to pour out of the fill hole and then replace the fill plug. Drive to a parking lot or spot where you can drive in figure 8's 20 times each in both directions to distribute the fluid properly.
