You might do a search on this. There was a recent post where a member gave instructions on a fan switch for about $40 from Pep Boys. The only reason I didn't go with it was because the instructions seemed kind of complicated and needed some soldering.
I think it is a waste of time to install a manual switch, only because I did it and then decided to reprogram the fans to come on at lower temperatures, which to me is a much better solution to get lower coolant temperatures in the summer.
The manual switch solution wasn't particularly difficult, but it did require taking out the glove box and installing a relay under the dash and running wires through the firewall to the fuse/relay box in front of the battery. In other words a lot of tedious grunt work. All you need is a 30 amp relay, switch with indicator light, a few feet of wire, a fused connection to the fuse pannel in the passenger's foot well, and know what terminals to use on the main fan relay socket. :D Some fun, Ugh??? :)

Re: manual fan switch?? (CP)
CP,
I sent an email to the member that made the fan controller document to ask if he minds if we post it. In the meantime, search the archives for fan controller and you'll find a thread or two about it.
Xtreme Motrsports sells a cooling kit to reset fan temps and includes a 172 degree thermostat for $229. Plugs into exsisting wiring(plug and go) :yesnod:
If you put in a second switch that direct grounds the two fans you should also have high speed on the fans. The mod gives you both fans on low speed and works fine. I guess you could use a double throw double pole switch and have high and low speed fans ?????
When I have mine at the track, I removed the covers from the relays and I use a matchbook to hold the contacts closed. Works great for cool-down between runs, total cost was ZERO :D
