I have a 01 c5 and i noticed the radiator plug is plastic i do not know if the anti-freeze was ever changed and was wondering if i will have a hard time removing the plug for a fresh change?
Tipically you do drain it via the Petcock (drain plug on the radiator).. and refill. that will get a good amount out of the system. the T-stat is on the bottom front of the motor so if you really wanna get a lot out then pull the t-stat and drain the block as well. I drained my block completely when i did the Waterpump/T-stat.
When i filled mine back up I also filled the engine/radiator using the upper radiator hose and outlet. it burped out a few air bubbles and was all good. a buddy of mine did not fill the block via the upper hose and had air bubbles and trouble bleeding it out.. he filled using the upper hose and all good.
I understand those wanting to change the fluid. Getting the right mixture pulling hoses and T-stats are well and good.
I used flushing by a closed system machine. All fluid removed and the correct mixture of Dex-Cool replaced. Out here Oil Can Henry does this in about 20 min while you sit in the car. No fuss no mess.
Cost $119.Worth to me the peace of mind its done right.
