Default transmission question t56

I have an 04 le mans Corvette. My trans went out and the trans shop says they are trying to find and offset lever or level couldn't understand him. I however can't find any information on this part. Can someone tell me of my car has this part and if so what it does. All I find is stuff for f-bodys and gto's. Thank you so much.

I would ask to see the damage. That isn't a part that I have ever had to replace. The offset lever is is what basically rides in the shift gate and the reverse lockout solenoid and skip shift solenoid work with it.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. I am requiring all old parts for the whole job. So I will know if it was bad. It was just a part I've never really heard of before.

Long story as short as possible. At around 130k miles 5/6 gear went out all I got was a grinding sound. Was stationed in Florida about to get out of the air force. Took it too aamco because I knew I would be moving soon and wanted my warranty to be nationwide. They said they would rebuild instead they bought a used from man trans in Tallahassee. About 3k miles third gear went out. Took it too aamco in Illinois because I was still under warranty. They shipped it back to man trans who rebuilt and sent it back. Less than 3k more miles third shelled out again. This time aamco up here is rebuilding and I am requiring all old parts and visual inspection before of bad parts and good parts going in. Also only mod is exhaust.

See i have never heard of the part before. When I did find it for the fbodys gtos and vipers it looked like a pretty stout piece. I still cant find any reference too it for my c5. I talked to rick kim and i called rpm performance and both are telling me that the c5 doesnt have it. All i want is either a good partnumber if it does exist so they can order if its there and proof that its broken. They have had my car since april 17th and i have missed so many good days and cruises

Thank you so much Rick you really are the best. Just glad it's all under warranty. And it didn't fail mantrans put the retaining clip for it in wrong so when they went to get it apart they had to grind it out. According to aamco thats what happened

what retaining ring? It is held in place with a roll pin....unless they left the pin in and hammered another in with it....

The Corvette and non-Corvette ones are different. When I get home I can take a picture of the Corvette one and post it. I currently have 1 torn apart on my bench.

I miss spoke earlier they did call it a roll pin. Once I get all my old parts I will post pics of everything and plan on sharing my whole experience with the forum.

yup, I bet that is exactly what they did. They left the old roll pin in and went to drive a new 1 in....I have done that before....Except I didn't need to cut it off lol.
