trans advice
3rd gear synchro is shot on my base c5
Was thinking of getting a used c5z tranny and use that instead of getting my current one rebuilt. So if I get a used c5z tranny and that goes bad after how many times I would rather have that rebuilt instead.
what do you guys think?

You can get some rebuilt trans with the Z gears already installed or have your current trans rebuilt with them. What you also want to look for are the input and output shafts. If you have anything rebuilt add them to the list. For good shops look to seasoned rebuilders of the C5/C6 trans. RPM is a good one and there are several others around the country as well. In Michigan we are fortunate to have a major rebuilder in Wixom who is know for race prepared GM and ford manuel trans.
