A little confused and maybe even disappointed in the price of the kit for what I see.. Looking at it online for quite some time, I saw a design that encased the entire trans/diff with bars running from all corners. Made sense that it could really strengthen the setup.
Must be a big difference in the M6 and A4 design (I have an A4). My kit only comes with two bars to go up top. But nothing down low.. So Im wondering, what is the point? And why does half the kit cost the same as the M6 full kit??? Clearly this is cheaper to produce.. And no instructions... Just the bars, mounts, and bots.
This kit does not fully encase the trans/diff. I leaves the bottom completely vulnerable to the same kind of movement... why??? I would not have even considered it if I knew it simply connected from the left and right top of the diff to the top of the trans.
Im almost concerned I didn't get a complete kit. It is missing instructions after all.. Anyone with an A4 kit able to tell me if this is correct sounding?
Also, before anyone takes this as a bash to ECS, just know that I am trying to find out if this is a complete kit and if instructions are not provided.
If no one has an A4 kit, I will call and see if there was a mistake. Id rather ask here first.
I know ECS is a top notch company and I respect the brand. Just have concerns here...
Hmmm. I would think both kits would be similar. But to be honest, never seen one for an A4.
Did you buy it from them? Do they even still sell them? I've been keeping an eye out on a used setup. I have a close to new Pfadt mount ready to pair up with it.
I bought it from Florida-speed-and-power. They are running a sale for $369 and free shipping. They dont stock them, they order directly from ECS and it came from ESC from what they said. So they must still make them.
Curious if they have a photo of the kit on their web site (ECS) or maybe google a photo to see if you have all the parts. I think the instructions can be downloaded and some places simply don't print the paper any more. Not sure if this is the case here though but several non-Vette things I have bought recently require downloaded instructions.
And yes, from the pics I've seen.. it looks to be complete.. which is disappointing. Because it does not even look like a practical setup. The M6 gets a nice practical cage all around. This doesnt even make sense.. And not for the price thats for sure.
I'm sure ECS will take care of you. For what it's worth, when I converted from M6 to A4 the shop was able to adapt my DTE diff brace and use 4 struts. So I don't think they are all that different.
I have a ECS Brace on my A4, the brace goes at the top I'm running 600 hp and it has been in since feb I have checked it and everything is as when I installed it, just make sure you torque the bolts and use lock-tite plus I am running the Hinson Motor and rear end mount. And plus the way the A4 is made you wouldn't be able to run bottom struts because of the pan.

The top brace is the most important and I would think the A4 should have a smoother application of torque as compared to the stick. I would love to see ECS provide some feedback to learn more about the design.

The key component to the brace is the upper arms which keep the diff from wanting to break off in the opposite direction of tire spin. The auto's do not allow enough room to utilize the lower arms due to the pan and most exhaust systems.
To date we have never had a reported failure with this brace for it's intended purpose, however, if you feel this product does not meet your expectations you are welcome to return it for a full refund as long as it was not installed.
Instructions are located at the bottom of our home page of our web site.
The instructions and torque specs are all I needed, thanks. If you say it will be a strong brace and it has proven to help out, I will trust in it and go ahead and install it. I don't know what power level it takes to break an A4 as they are much less harsh than an M6. Or if it even needs a brace, but I'd rather install it and hope I never have a breakage. I think internals are what I should be worried about with an Auto, not so much the case.. But oh well. This will bring some peace of mine.

The auto's are typically easier on the rears, but they have broken off, especially with big converters.
Here is a link to the instructions on our site with tq spec's. It's for the manual, but it's the same.
I am running a A4 with the DTE brace and have the top and the bottom struts.
