I have a 97 coupe and has been running great. Went out to start it yesterday and everything turns on but clicks once and won't turn over or even try to. I first tried jumping it and had no luck then I even took battery to be tested and battery is fine. Someone recommended maybe its the starter and to tap on the solenoid to see if maybe locked up??
Starter is located on passenger side right under/behind the exhaust manifold. Pretty easy swap you can take a long extension and tap on it and see if that helps. Mine did the same thing I replaced the solenoid 2 days ago. Cost me 19 bucks shipped.
Ill work on that the next few days.. It's tough because now the car is dead in the driveway so I need to push it it in the garage and its so low it's a project to jack it up to get to it.
Correct me if I'm wrong but step one is to find solenoid and tap it to see if it'll start and that should help narrow down if its the solenoid or actual starter?..

Have someone help you push start it and you can drive it to wherever just don't turn it off or you will be doing the same thing. Also if the solenoid is dead tapping on it may or may not do anything.
The LDCM and RDCM codes would point to battery issues. But may also be caused by disconnecting/reconnecting the battery.
But if you are comfortable that the battery is good, then the starter solenoid is the likely cause. They don't show codes when they crap out.
Try wacking it with a broom handle while someone tries to crank it. Sometimes they are hung up and will then start. But that is a temp solution until it happens again.
Yea that's my next step. Anyone have a picture of where I can see or reach the solenoid? Can I get to it from the top or only the bottom. Also I've read you need to disconnect the headers from exhaust and pull the starter just to get to the solenoid.

Sound right? Any tips or tricks?
I just removed the header took me about 15 minutes maybe 20 but I have done it ALOT.. You will need a deep socket 4mm. They sell them at sears there are 3 4mm bolts you take off. Do not strip those little heads on the corners it's not fun getting them out. if you have the means get a new starter like 8VETTE7 said especially the new units that come with the longer bolt. I'm a cheap bastard and for 19bucks I'm gtg until it actually takes a dump then I will upgrade to a high torque starter but my car isn't a daily driver anymore since I do a lot of tinkering with it
Used a trick to tap on the solenoid and it sparked and fired right up. Looks like that's what I need so already have it on jack stands and ordered the part. Hopefully it's just the solenoid and not whole starter.
