Default Drag pack fitment

With the purchase of the LG drag spindles, I am now looking into 15" rear wheels. Im interested in the Weld alumstar 2.0 or the magnum 2.0. My main questions are about the front runners and how to know what fits. As in, do I stay with a 16" front, or is it the custom CCW's that even allow that to fit and Id need a 17" in the Weld's? Or can BS be negatived enough to clear the calipers? Going for as slim and light as possible.

Next is about the rear fitments. I do not know the specs on the CCW drag pack because I bought the set used, but currently I run the CCW (classics) drag pack in 16" rim sizes with 26x11.5 tires rear. Ive noticed a lot of room left over on the inside of the tire and wheel well and a little on the outside as well. I know I can run a 26x 12 or 13 and try to get more tread down. But obviously the BS and OS need to be correct. Id like to hear any insight and what some of you are running.

(BS= Back space and OS= Offset for the confused)

Spent the day cleaning and polishing the CCW's. Im planning to sell them before purchasing new wheels and tires. Anyone interested in the best drag pack possible for the C5 without modifications feel free to PM me. I'll post pics on request.

Not to high jack your thread, but I'm interested in this as well, will a magnum 2.0 15x10 fit?

Yes, with the LG spindles. I currently run a 16x11.5. The Offset and Backspacing is what's important though. There is plenty of room for that rim size, but not if those specs aren't right.

So no issues with clearing the brakes? Any idea on back spacing for a C6 with wide quarters? Also do you run bead locks?

The stock rear brakes are fine for smaller rims. Its the spindles that rub. I dont run bead locks or tubes or anything. No clue about C6 specs or even C5 for that matter. Thats part of what Im trying to find out.

I bought the spindles too. I plan on running the Weld RT-S 15x10 and 15x4 (I have the Strange race brakes on front.)

I'm not sure the exact back spacing yet, but I'll find out Monday when I order.

I think a bunch of us are gonna be selling our 16" drag packs now...

Thanks it'll look at those. Why did you decide on 10" width? I believe the ccw's I have are 11" wide. And like I said, there's clearly room for more width back the. (If the spacing is well thought out)

I was told the 15*9 weld rts with a 7.5 backspace or 15*10 with 8.5 backspace running a m/t 275 pro tire....they both will line up with the stock not flared rear fender and not stick out....I was told the 15*10 7.5 bs will stick out with out flares..
make sense??
Comments please....not really stuck on rts. I was also looking at stark dark star much better match for my gto fronts but they can't tell me for sure it will clear my rear caliper....he said they only have 14 inches from the center on the hub to the barrel of wheel...is that enough?

Hopefully some of the guys with these setups already step in. I know Ive seen some detailed threads on it over the years. Just cant find any.

The Strange Engineering front brakes are a great way to get a small front runner to fit. They aren't as expensive as I though either.

If you look at the price difference from the 17" front to the 15" front wheel, it makes te Strange Brake set up even more affordable.

I'm not set on 15x10, it's just that's the size I've seen on some posts on here.

I too, remember some threads about this set up. Just don't remember where.

Im wondering how the car brakes with those small diameter and thin rotors? Is yours ever on the street? If they feel fine I'll probably buy a set to have the optimal racing setup.

My car is track only. I would never use these brakes on the street. I just don't think they're made for repetitive use like the street would demand.

I do feel completely comfortable slowing from 136-138 on the track with manual brakes.

Ya, I can tell they are not meant for it. I drive about 35 miles to the strip is all.

Is 15" still the limit for the strange brake kit? Maybe a 14" will fit?

I've been talking with Hinson Motorsports and between them and Weld, I'll have a set and be able to confirm fitment for stock fenders. But it won't be for another 4 weeks before they're on my car.

I've been experimenting with an offset calculator. For example, the stock rears are 9.5 wide, So if you wanted to fit a 12" wide wheel, a 70 offset will add one of the inches to the outside and 1.5 to the inside. (Close to those figures).

From what I'm measuring, a 12" wide wheel should fit. But I haven't calculated the tire width too. Just starting to mess with the idea.

What size are they recommending? And what tires?

I'm going with 15x10 and 15x4
I'm not sure yet the back spacing on the rears, but I believe it's 2.5" BS on the fronts.

I'm using the MT 275 Pro rears and MT ET Drag front tires.

Remember, I'm a track only guy.
