Default ls3 waterpump not the same as ls6-ls1 pump

I bought a new ls3 waterpump and about the only thing the same about these 2 pumps are bolt pattern to block and the heater hose inlet. The waterpump inlet is bigger in diameter and deeper. Takes a different thermostate than the ls1 or the ls2. It is much larger. Outlet is in a different location. The pulley is a lot shollower and lighter. The tensioner location is slightly at a different angle. I'm going to adapt it to my ls6. The design looks like it will flow a lot more fluid. The flow lines are close to straight and not severely angled like the ls6

Sorry for jumping in , but will all these water pumps work on a 2002 Z06 LS6 ? Are they improvements over the OEM part?

If they are interchangeable with the LS6 WP, could you list the GM Part Numbers? Is any one of the pumps superior to another?

Thanks

Yes mine is the center one, it's going to work just got to get a shorter hose and a different thermo stat, the pulley is the corvette one. Mine came from a new ls3 crate motor

The ls3 pump does flow better, looking at them side by side with the ls6 pump, the water channels are straighter and the outlet thermostat is larger opening

It would seem the top pump labeled LS3/LS7 would be less likely to cavitate with the 7k redline of the LS7 engine. I don't know if the LS6 (6500 redline) or LS1 (6000 redline) cavitate, just an observation.

It's official! My car is consistently running 10 to 12 degrees cooler than it did with the ls6 waterpump!

Did it require a different belt size, or will stock still work?

Thanks. Didn't know what y'all meant about the pulley. I guess it's just "lighter" and not a smaller diameter then...

The LS1/LS3 pulley's are close enough in diameter (if not the same) to run a stock belt.

The LS3 pulley is significantly shorter than the the LS1 from front to back.

Not only that but it fits a lot tighter to the block than the ls1, I measured it and it looks like at least a 1/4 inch closer

Can you still use the stock top radiator hose? The outlet is straight versus the angled one of the original.

If you buy a Corvette water pump you don't have to make any changes to belts/hoses.

You're looking at the inlet of one and outlet of the other. The LS1/6 pump and the LS7 pump have inlets and outlets in similar locations and angles. One advantage of the LS7 over the LS6 is that you can fit a 92 or 102mm throttle body on a FAST manifold without any grinding on the pump.

Would also like to know if the ls3/ls7 corvette pump will work on my c5z ls6 with a&a kit on it. Are the mounting points of the blower brackets going to be affected?
