Default What HP will I be looking at?

I'm currently in the process of a build and I'm curious to see what hp numbers I'll be looking at, if anybody could help or give me a ball park range?

I have the following set up on an 02 Z06:

Livernois LS2 408 complete stroker (forged internals)
Comp cam 230/234 112
LS6 ported/ polished heads, dual springs, valves etc
SLP Underdrive pulley
Mallie oil pump
Borla 1 7/8 headers, full exhaust
K&n intake
RPM stage 4 transmission
Spec 3 clutch
Throttle body

I have no idea what to really expect when it gets dyno'd as to what would be considered good numbers, so kind of curious as to what I should be close too. Hoping to get around 500 at wheels.

Thanks
Matt

What intake and tb are you using?
Depending on you piston set up, you compression might be high for pump gas. Stock ls2 is 11-1 with 364 cubes and the same heads.
Did you consider ls3 heads with a fast 102?

You will need new higher flow injectors.. Min 36 lb/hr Max 42 lb/hr and a GOOD tune with all those MODS.

DO NOT FORGET,, you will be LIMITED by traction and differential reliability with ANY significant HP/Tq increase.

Consider some LS2 differential internal improvements and make sure that your clutch and Torque Tube couplers can hold up to the new power.

New LS2 differential output shafts and LS2 clutches and maybe some new rubber TT couplers "If yours are worn/aged and cracked" You mwy need a new high performance CLUTCH that can stand up to the new HP.

Ask me how I know..

I have CCW 505a forged aluminim rims (11.5" wide) and much better tires to be able to hook up.. Without better traction,, your tires and suspension will be the WEAK LINK. Install better shocks also. I have C6 ZO6 shocks and they work EXCELLENT!

I'll definitely upgrade the suspension and diff. As far a fuel injectors goes what injectors do you recommend? The reason I ask is because I'm waiting for the car to be tuned still and the shop said they won't know if I'll need to upgrade the injectors till the tune, but Im needing the car here shortly and want to make sure I have everything needed. Is thee anything else I'll need for the engine to be completed and ready before and after the tune

Thanks

Matt

With a stroker and that cam, I recommend a FAST intake and 42 lb/hr injectors. I'm running 42 lb/hr injectors, ported Fast 90/90mm TB, Patriot ported stage 2 heads 11.1 compression and about the same cam. Makes an Easy 450 rwhp.

I would recommend a fast 92 or 102 intake... With the stocker, your leaving power behind.

If your not in the 500+ range,, somethings wrong!!

Better be working on beefing up that drive train!!

Forged internals.. not only should you be upwards of 500whp with the right intake and good tuning, but the engine can handle a big nitro shot or some great boost numbers with FI on top of that too. Not the drive train though

There is a very simple formula for injector size requirements and horsepower. It can be used to estimate max power a set of injectors could support and to determine what size injectors are needed to support your target hp. You will easily need 42lb injectors if not larger.
That said, I would not trust that shop to tune the car.

If you are thinking of boost in the future, rethink your pistons because your comp ratio is too high even for meth. Think about the cam too. Have a end goal at this stage or you are throwing away money on nice stuff.

I would throw a fast on there, I happen to have a ported fast 92 low miles if you want a good deal. Bill is right about injectors too, make sure the ones you buy have all the proper data too.

I had the shop add the suggested parts, but now having a problem with the car and tuning it. It seems everytime they try to hook up the tuner to the car the dash stops working and there's no communication to the PCM, therefore can't get the tune done, would any of you guys have any suggestions on to what might be causing this?

Thanks

Examine the female pins inside the OBD2 port and make sure that the pin for the COMMS port is not spread apart.

This is a common issue and can cause the issues that you are expierencing.

If this doea not reslve the issue,, look to the LEFT of the BCM and find the serial data STAR connectors. Find the one with four wires and pop the top off of it. This will isolate the LDCM, SCM & RDCM from the rest of the module comm ports.

I went to the boneyard and grabbed a couple OBD under dash plugs. Cut the wires as long as you can.

The color codes are universal, so relatively easy to splice in.

You can also buy new connector from caspers.

Good that you got bigger injectors. Must run like crap with no tune. The hope is that your tuner is well versed in all the injector data as nullpointer mentioned.

When Bill was talking diff upgrades, I believe he meant to say C6 Z06 parts. Pretty cheap and plenty stout.

Good luck
