I need some help on my MN6. I have 23K mile on her and just yesterday it got very difficult to get into reverse we are talking major effort here. I have the stock shifter but I did cut it down about 1.5" All the other gears seam OK and there is no clutch smell or slipping going on. The only thing that happened was when I cut the shaft down I really had to torque down on the **** to get it to line up right but that was 6 months ago and has been fine until yesterday. Please help if you can. I think I need to see the dealer but it would be nice to have some advance info before they tell me this is normal.
Is it really hard to move sideways? If so , there is a lockout solonoid that is amlfunctioning. Mine did that , so I took it out and ground the end of it off and reinstalled it.
I think you hit the nail on the head Andy. It is normal to move side to side in the forward gear gates but the second I try to hit the reverse lockout I have to get out of the car put my foot on it and force it in :jester Ok maybe not that bad but getting there. I assume this is a warranty issue and its great to have a little heads up info before I show up there.
Its normal for these brands of Transmissions. My last Mustang GT did the same, my 2000 C5 does. You can put it in 1st and move forward a couple inches then shift to R, or you can let out on the clutch a little and it will go right into R. Some just shift to reverse before they cut off their car so its already there.
Hey Andy, I set an appointment to see the dealer for my reverse look out solenoid but I have a question for you. Do they have to pull the shift **** of for this or is this done from under the car. I have the factory **** on a cut down shaft with no retaining clip. I have this thing on so tight it will three guys to get it loose. Just would like to know before going.
