Default odd motor behavior

I uncovered and started my c5 yesterday , attempted to back out of the garage and it stopped after rolling about 3 or 4 feet. I restarted and rolled forward and got the same result after moving 3/4 feet forward. I repeated this whole senario bout 4-5 times and quit. Can u give me some idea what the heck is going on?? I have owned this vehicle about 10 months and only drive it once a week if weather permits- it is a 1998 c5 w/ about 71,000 miles on it - beautiful black on black convertible.

Sounds like fuel cut-off. Any messages on the DIC?

Does the column lock with NO KEY in the ignition?

Get and install an LMC5 and your problems will be gone,

Google "Compliance Parts" with out the quotes and read about the LMC5.

Your battery is likely low. Most common cause of the column lock symptoms is a weak or bad battery or loose or corroded battery connections. Car starts with 12.2 or less volts (no load). Column lock electronics fails with 12.5 volts or less. Dash gauges tell you the state of health of the charging system and NOT the state of health of the battery. Check the battery with a digital volt meter directly across the battery posts with the neg battery cable disconnected. MUST be greater than 12.5 volts for column lock electronics to function. A good battery at full charge will measure 12.7 to 12.9 volts no load or more. Try charging your battery fully.
