Default my corvette threw code C1241

my 01 has been having weak steering i would have to turn the steering wheel way to much to make a simple turn i checked the codes the only code that didnt erase was c 1241 which i checked and had to do with magna steering i will be lifting up the car today after work check both steering rack and the wiring to the ebcm i had recently sent both the rack and the ebcm to get fixed no more then a month and a half ago so how can these problems pop up so soon

If I remember correctly (not at home now) there is a Magnasteer solenoid in the steering rack close to where the column meets it. This may be bad or the connection/wiring to it may have an issue from your work.

Check that out first and then we can go from there.

thanks will check those out when i get home. also forgot to add that i been driving the car for a month and it was working fine then all of a sudden that happens

MAGNASTEER has NOTHING to do with steering ratio. It just FIRMS up the feel of the steering at highway speeds and allows the steering feel to be light at low speeds. Helps keep the car stable at high speed and make parking easier at slow parking lot speeds.

Engine running car on the ground, Have someone turn the steering wheel LEFT & RIGHT while you carefully examine the rack and all the other steering and suspension components.

The rack is mounted in rubber bushings. If the rack is moving when the steering wheel is being moved, theres your issue.

Also check the connections that connect the steering wheel input shaft to the rack for proper tightness and torque.
