Default Alternator bracket removal?

Removing the alternator bracket? Is this a big job? If not, procedure please. Reason you wonder? I want to sand it down and buff it out. It's really a rough cast, looks like crap. Thanks

It's a bit of a pain due to limited access to the mounting bolts but doable in a couple of hours. I ordered the upgraded GM version that is beefed up to prevent the bracket failure some have experienced. Since I am replacing it as part of a larger project, I had the new one powder coated along with a few other pieces. I think the new look will be more than worth it.

It's easy to remove with the power steering pump removed.
But the ps pump doesn't come off until you remove the pulley.

A nice upgrade is the LS2 power steering pulley which is spoked steel. Easy access to the ps pump bolts

Lots of guys have changed over to the metal LS2 pulley. It's a plug-n-play and it's for cheap money too. A no-brainer for sure.

Yes its a big (read PITA) job. I Just removed mine to do a flip drive and it was a PAIN!!
You don't have to remove the PS pump (or pulley), but it takes a lot of patient with a couple of the bolts that can only be turned a 1/4" at a time. If you leave the pump on the bracket, you have to unhook two line/hoses to remove everything from the car.

Yes, that's it. I have C5 accessory brackets on my Nova LS swap. I checked the part number.

To polish the alt bracket, the pump needs removed.

Time indeed.
Actually I'm pretty sure that's a Billet Specialties piece, or one of the other aftermarket companies.

Edit: Or Synister, as he said.

I had the water pump off along with the pulley so to me it wasn't bad when I swapped out to the better bracket. It's those bolts that you can only turn a 1/4 of a time that a pain.
