Default Weiand LS1 polished intake

Has anyone installed one of the Weiand LS1 intakes? All the research I've found just concerns going from the Weiand to an LS6. Anyone install one on their C5? Does it take much modification or is it a direct bolt on? What about retaining the stock hood? Any input greatly appreciated.

Never heard of anyone using a weiand intake. Ls6 and fast are the populace because they are the best choices for most applications. Are you just going for looks or performance gain?

Actually looking for both. Will just an intake make a difference and if it does than How it looks is important. I'd always rather have polished or chrome when possible without giving up performance. Also wondering about the hood clearance?

The heat soak issue is why not a lot of people concerned about performance go with a metal intake.

But does a change of intakes help at all? I haven't seen the LS6 people are talking about. Is this just a stock part?

The LS6 or 2001+ intake manifold is worth approx 7-10 HP over a 97-2000 LS1 intake. A fast 90 or 92 may be worth 5 more HP over the LS6 style intake.

The aluminum manifold suffers from heat stroke (woops,, I meant to say soak) more than the composite nylon manifold.

Your need for more power is NOT going to come from a manifold only swap.

You need a combination of mods to make a worth while gain.. When you change ANYTHING between the MAF and the O2 sensors, you change the engine efficiency and need to have it retuned to take full advantage of the improvements.

A professional tune is $400-$500.

I don't see why a Weiand LS1 manifold wouldn't fit under a stock hood. Its not any bigger than a stock intake

If you want a pretty intake, hell,, GET IT.

Bought my car a few weeks ago and it has the Weiand alum. intake on it, I was looking for an LS6 as I am not really into the bling side of things but someone posted dyno graphs of a tuned, cammed LS and the weiand showed better gains top end over the LS6...how truthful that is with a bolt on LS1, who knows.

After seeing the prices of these LS6 intakes I am pretty sure I'll just buy a blower first then change the manifold over at a later date if I need to.
