I just got mine done and the work order says $330.47 but I suppose that is the cost on warranty and I don't know how they figure out what it would be retail...or would it be the same? I don't know. That's just what is listed here.
I used to have the fuel sending problem, been using Chevron gas now and after about 6 to 8 tanks the problem has not returned or maybe try fuel cleaner :yesnod:
My guage went to empty and stayed there once. I happened to have an appointment with my mechanic the very next day, so he cleared the code or whatever had to be done to get my guage to behave normally again. I have used nothing but Mobil gas since then, and only from very busy stations, and the problem has not returned.
Since my 02 did it with less than 2000 miles I hardley thing that I got stiffed with a bad tank of gas. Also it was replaced twice on the 00 and failed the third time before trade off. Poor Design......Exxon and Chev with mixes of Mobil.
My ’99 had absolutely no problems until it went out of warranty early last December. Then the problems began whenever it went below half full. The conditions that caused it became quite predictable. Long uphill grades, steep downgrades and sharp turns taken fast would inevitably trip the gauge. Then six months ago, in March, the problem went away and hasn’t returned. This leads me to believe that the fuel formulation has something to do with it. Whatever the problem is I’ll live with it until it starts to drive me nuts or I’m convinced they have a permanent fix.
I monitor the fuel gauge closely so that I have an idea as to how much fuel I have if it does trip again. The most frustrating thing about it when it happens is that damn low fuel warning that takes over the DIC and won’t let you track the odometer :cuss The second most frustrating thing is that you have to turn the engine off to reset it :mad While it would be nice if they could come up with a permanent fix, I’d settle for those two frustrations being taken care of
It also takes on the symptom of showing a quarter tank with nothing in it. I ran out several times with the 00 just last week with the new 02. Unfortunately I now carry the time bomb of a spare gallon in back. To further tick one off is that this time in happened on the south 15 in San Diego on a Sunday when practically the entire country of Mexico is on their way back. Inside lane, the sick feeling of it starting to die, can't get over to right of which there is nothing but overpasses with no shoulders. Managing to creast a hill and coast down and run a red light to get to an area with room. Meanwhile an uncountable number of people shaking fists at the arrogant sports car owner who bottled up traffic. :blueangel: :mad

That’s nice to know. Mine never exhibited that problem when it was acting up. Instead it would sometimes flash the reserve fuel warning when it really had around four gallons left
