Can I take the evap purge line from the back of the car, stick a check valve on it, and just hook it to the intake? See any major issues with doing this? It would take about 5 minutes instead of 2 hours to do. They only issue I could see is if the solenoid also regulated the amount of vacuum on the tank.

Hmmmm,, I dont think so. The tank doesnt operate under constant manifold vacuum The tank VENTS into the charcoal canister and the PCM (Power Train Control Module) tells the system to PURGE the canister under ideal conditions as not to screw up idle or WOT AFRs
Give that idea a rest. Not the best plan for your car. If it was that easy, GM would have built it that way.
