Window THUMP when it hits bottom

Window THUMP when it hits bottom
So my driver's window does this when on auto down. I found this thread

My questions are will it always thump when it hits bottom because that's just the way it works ? orrrrrrrrr is this a sign of the motor going out or the regulator getting sloppy in its old age?
I am just hoping that in auto or just getting it down it will at some point go down and just stop quietly one day.

If you need to go into the door to look closer I can post a good door panel removal link with pictures you can use. Not at home now with all my links.
Not sure if what you hear is normal or not. My car is not at home and I don't remember what level of sound it makes. Maybe if you post a sound clip it could help us.

Wife's 99 does it as well. I have trained her to tap the down button right before it hits the lower limit, thinking we may be able to avert regulator damage.
