Default New Master Cylinder

Ok, what is the likelihood that my recently replaced master cylinder installed at a GM dealership has already gone bad??

From the invoice it shows part numbers 12564455 and 24264180 replaced. Total $1,584. Work was done just this past May and I've only driven 2,500 miles since. Total miles on vehicle is 63k - I purchased at 12K. I was in Afghanistan so I only drove when I was home on RR.

I originally took it in after multiple pedal sticks and I noticed the fluid was remaining clean even after long periods - I don't driver super aggressive..i.e. track..smoke the tires. But I will red line shift and open her up.

After the replacement I did the Ranger method about 3-4 times as the fluid became cloudy/dirty. Did the last one about 3.5 weeks ago and since then the fluid has remained totally clean!

I've not had any pedal sticking issues and everything feels and shifts great. I am just worried could something have failed already or could I have just been good about ranger method that now the fluid is remaining clean...

The fishing Guy...

Thanks for serving my brother!

What makes you think that the master is or could be having issues?

The Master Cyl is the First thing that I would have replaced however, they most likely didn't bleed the entire clutch Hyd system. Don't know for sure.

When you replace the master cyl, there is a quick disconnect that if done properly, should not introduce any air into the system. That being said, you still have nasty old fluid in the slave cyl.

Other than dirty fluid, what issues are you having with your clutch?

At 12K, the slave shouldn't be an issue. I'm here for you, just let me know what problems that you are experiencing.

PS.... $1,584 for a master cyl replacement, that place is a NEST of CROOKS and THEIVES.

Thats why there called STEALERSHIPS!

Thanks for the reply! Back home with family is nice!

Sorry for the confusion on miles. I was just giving some back history, I was the second owner and purchased the vehicle in 2001 when it only had 12k...I know have 63k. I first had the clutch to the floor sticking issues at about 40K and then learned of the Ranger method, I did method for a few years until the clutch/brake fluid in master stopped getting dirty and my clutch kept sticking and/or would operate its full pedal range and was spongy.

I took it in and the chevy dealership said the master and slave had "failed", so I forked over the cash...sucks!!

I wonder if, like you said, they didn't fully bleed the lines and so that's why the fluid continued to be dirty for a few changes.

Right now and since the repair, I've honestly had NO clutch "feel" sticking issues at all. It shifts strong and tight, I just don't see any dirty fluid anymore, which was my concern that something was wrong again.

If it were me,, I would see if you can FLUSH/Bleed the clutch hyd system. Its a closed loop system so there ZERO circulation. If the fluid from the quick disconnect to the master is clean,, it will take a long time for any of the old fluid to migrate to the master cyl

You have to drop the exhaust and remove the tunnel plate to access the bleed fitting on the front end of the torque tube / bell housing

Welcome back home.
