Default Power door locks

Okay, I picked up my new to me 01 Coupe today and the power door locks won't work. I hear clicking in both doors but they won't lock or unlock on either side. Ideas?

I have a great link at home on replacing the relays in the door modules. Not a hard DIY for little money.

So both modules are bad? or does bad one affect both. Or is there just one module?

If it is the relays in the door modules here is a link to help. I am always available to discuss if you PM me with your phone number.

The thing I'm pissed mostly about is that the guy I bought the Vette from had to have known the locks didn't work, but shame on me for not checking them.

I checked both fuses and they are good. I have some relay bypass switch's and in the on or off position the DCM's still clicked but no actuation from the actuators, Odd? It's gota be modules I guess. Kind weird that they are both bad.

If I just go with new ones do they need to be coded?

No reprogramming required. However you need to get into the doors and make sure the lock motors are not bad. You can jumper 12 volt power to the motor to verify they are good and the linkage it good also. There is only one motor and the module just reverses the voltage polarity to lock or unlock. If you need more help let us know.

Not at home now with all my info but if I remember correctly there was a change somewhere in the parts supply for the modules that required they be correctly paired. I think it was related to post production modules that would not work in unison unless they were matched. In other words a much later right module needed the later model driver side to communicate correctly and vise versa. I think all the production 97-04 modules were interchangeable. Will try to research for you. I hope I'm not in left field on this as my memory is not a good as it once was.
