Gearing/TC Basics?
Been reading a lot of posts on this forum regarding switching out the gears and upgrading torque convertors. Only problem is is that I do not have a complete understanding, even the basics, of what and how they can improve the driving experience. I do not track (at least not for now) but do love the torque. And my worst nightmare is losing off the line to a mustang. Can someone please explain to me the disadvatanges/advantages of going to a aftermarket tc and higher gearing. (even including EPA and mileage?) I currently have a 01 a4 with 3.15's.

if you don't track, i'm not sure i would change torque converter, however it would really help to go to 3:42 gears. your cruise rpm will increase a little-about 10%, but i doubt you would see much change in fuel economy,maybe a mile or two. you would defintely improve your lowend acceleration with the 3:42's tho. also getting some ls1 edit tuning for your shift points, red line and torque settings for trans would be good also.

which brings me to the next question: what is ls1 edit? ive read about the powerloader and the others but havent been able to find any constructive details on ls1 edit.
