Hey guys need some help, on my way to work today i notice a slight screeching sound when shifting from 3-4 gear. Didnt think much off it until i came to a red light and had to get going in first, I pushed the clutch in and went to select first gear, during which it was hard to put into gear and the screeching started. Its really bad going into first and gets better as i run through the gears. it almost feels like the clutch is not disengaging. The clutch still has plenty of feel but somethings just off. The car is a 2002 z06, clutch is a monster stage 2. Ive been driving the car since april with no issues. Any ideas? Im stuck at work till i can figure this one out. thanks for the help in advance
Check the trans fluid level and condition or just change it. If the fluid is low, the blocker rings may be the source. I could be wrong, but it's quick, easy and cheap.
I'll check on the trans fluid, but something keeps leading me back to the slave/clutch/throwout bearing. Once i get it in gear its fine but getting it into gear is alot harder than normal and it makes that spine tingling screech when you put it in gear. like i said earlier almost as if the clutch is not fully disengaging? Is that even possible? Anyone have any vette friendly shops in the eastern N.C. region?
Did some digging in the archives and it appears the clutch not disengaging is a sign of the slave cylinder going bad. anyone know any decent shops in eastern NC that deal with corvettes?
Ok I just made it home however first and reverse are impossible to get into with the car running so I had to start the car in gear to get moving. Still makes the screeching noise between shifts, I'm really thinking that the clutch is not disengaging fully. I did a little research and will do a bleed on the clutch although my fluid looks fine. Is there anyway to determine if it's the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder? There's no fluid on the ground and the pedal feel is normal.

Tough shifting is a pretty tell tale sign of disengagement issues(which leads you to slave/TOB or the master, assuming clutch is good). Been there and done that. Different car/clutch set up but a few of my old 5.0 mustangs had several TOB's die and the car screeched like hell. Sucks but your probably gonna have to dig in the car a bit to solve your problem.
I don't see the master causing your problem if the fluid is clean and pedal feels fine. However, its a relatively cheap and easy part to replace if you want to take it out of the equation.
