Default Homelink

Hello

I want Homelink in my C5 Z06.

I have the option to send my visor to a guy who installs Homelink in the visor much like is offered on the C6. His reputation is solid and comments about his work are excellent. It costs about $90 including shipping and works with rolling codes found on new garage door openers. Turn around time on the job is a day or two, so this is a great option and looks as original when done as it does on a C6 from the factory.

Before I do this, I am interested in knowing if anyone has installed Homelink in their C5 by replacing the rear view mirror with an after market with auto dim and Homelink. This is another option and I want to check on its availability. If not possible, I will send my visor. If someone out there has replaced the rear view mirror with an after market model with auto dim and Homelink - please let me know.

Thanks

The hard part is removing the factory mirror which requires a special homemade or bought tool.

I have a homelink in each visor I put in myself and bought this mirror with GPS and rear view camera from China to amuse myself.
I'm going to mock it up working in the car before installing it but get a glass shop to do the removal and mounting.

The Homelink mirror itself is 75.00 new

Yes, I replaced my factory 2000 mirror with one with Homelink, autodim, and compass. The compass and autodim are built into the mirror. Getting one with a temp sensor would have required additional wiring to the temp sensor, so I did not go with that. I did it a few years ago and it's worked without issue since then. I don't remember exactly what I did but it wasn't very difficult. Here is the thread and pictures I used to install mine that may be helpful. Sorry I don't have better direction, but you can definitely get it done with this information:

Edited to add that I no longer have the map lights. There is a way to wire these in, but I never got around to it since it does involve opening the mirror and wiring them in for power and a switch. I don't drive at night all that often and never really had a need to use these lights. Maybe once or twice over a few years, but that's what my cellphone flashlight app is for!

Mine doesn't have the Torx screw so I think you have to slide a flat piece into a slot at the bottom and fiddle with it while pulling on the mirror but thanks for the connections.
I only need a positive and negative.
The rest of the mirror has it's own harness.

The previous owner put on in that is right in the roof. Right above the rear view mirror. Great only thing is I could never get it to work. It lights resets and programs but won't open of close the garages even after it blinks it is programed. I have 4 other cars with homelink so I don't think its me.

But this location is ideal for me only if it worked!!

A homelink garage opener will only take 7 remotes that are programed to that single opener. So it is possible that there are to many remotes programmed to that opener.
If your motor is newer than above, you have too many codes programmed. (when your memory is full, the circuit board will delete one of the existing remotes to make room for the new one) To rectify this, get all of the remotes that you own, and bring them to the garage where they will be accessible. Follow the antenna to the motor, press and hold the learn button until the LED goes out. (you have erased all of the memory)
