Default HAD Kit for C5?

*Phone auto corrected the title... wonderful

Hey everyone. I'm in the market for a corvette and understand HUD is an option I'd like to have. Now I know some may say, "then just buy one with the HUD," but a C5 with the color combinations I'm seeking plus mileage and at my price are not very plentiful.

So considering there are a couple nice looking 98s I've seen in the 70k mileage range I looked into adding HUD. I stumbled across the very helpful walkthrough on removing the pieces but all the links I've found on kits are few and far between. I guess Pre 99 need the different console but it's not definitive on how to go about reprogramming the Odo.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

I had little success locally in reprogramming odometer when I did my '98. Found a place I could send just the PC board out of the IPC and they reprogrammed the mileage but it was expensive (about $300, almost as much as the HUD parts). You might try ASAP Speedo. Their web site says they do it and their ECBM repair is much cheaper than ABS Fixer so they might be more reasonable.

To upgrade to HUD you do need an IPC that is HUD enabled and also the HUD controls which go to the left of the IPC.

Any dealer should be able to reprogram the mileage. Should only cost about $100 or so as it would probably be a 1 hour minimum charge.

Here is what the motherboard looks like. It is the big green board and has the mileage stored in it.

If you need info on removing the IPC or the dash pad to install a HUD let us know. I have both with pictures.

Hmm I figured a dealer may not do it but I could ask.

What about the pieces needed? Seems the people that were making the kits aren't anymore?

GMPartsHouse has them but they are not dong business right now. They should start up again in the near future. You could try some other sources if you can't wait.
