Need input......I'm hearing the up and down relays clicking so I'm thinking, without diving into it yet, that it possibly could be the motor. You can rule out a broken wire in the bundle going through the door because like I said, you can hear the relays actuating. I came across this on my way to work tonight.
My 03 Silverado experienced the same symtoms and it wound up being the motor.
What do you guys think ?
I'm leaning towards the drive motor
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think just the motor itself can be replaced no ?
My '99 does this about once a year. I've had great luck with removing the cover behind the grab handle on the door, putting a screwdriver on the screw underneath and whacking with a hammer while holding the window button down.
I got this tip from this forum. My understanding is that the gears in the mechanism get jammed.
I found the links on the forum on how to clean old motor. Worked like a champ and runs a little faster than my drivers side. Been going strong for over a year and a half. When drivers side does it I'll do the same.

Got a link? I did a search on "power window regulators" and came up empty
Thats the one. I did have to do it twice. Make sure you use some sand paper on the area where the brushes (carbon blocks) make contact. After that it was good to go. Take your time.

I did that a couple of times over a month or two but hate beating on the door panel. Thats why I did the rebuild.

The "Whack" was only a temp fix. Soon as I get a chance to tear into it i will ....that and a bottom seat cushion need to be installed as well....oh and last but not least outer door window seals. I think that's it
I had the same problem but didn't go as far as the poster providing the pictures.
When my drivers side window action failed, I bought a new motor from autozone, because it was easy and they had some kind of customer rebate I never got.
I reached in and unscrewed the motor, blind, and then replaced it with the new one. I didn't want to remove and possibly adjust the window on the re-install. I did a lot of work by feel, but it was still easy and I was able to correct my errors as I went, suffering from a low skill level.
The motor is a closed can, I believe the dust from the brushes piles up in the can, shorting the armature. That is why a blow to the motor restores function, you have shaken the armature dust away from the current .
This motor runs a thread and screw gear set which is normally a very reliable situation, I would be surprised if the gear drive was often a failure cause.
Because of my skill level, I had to screw the motor drive back into the mechanism , others found a way to engage the gears the correct way. The motor shaft comes with the screw drive in place.
