Default LS6 intake manifold next?

Hello all,

I am having the SLP headers,hi flow cats, & xpipe w/ resonator installed as soon as TBryne ships them to me :)

I am also thinking of having, at the same time, an LS6 intake manifold put on.

Does anyone have any hp/torque #'s on replacing the LS1 manifold with LS6 with maximum mods of cold air intake, headers/exhaust? IE, no head/cam mods what could I expect in gains?

Also - what is the average install time on that? My shop is saying 4-6 hours, probably 4...that sound about right?

thanks!

Guys that have done a few told me they've got it down to about an hour, if I recall correctly. I'm going to try to put mine on myself. I'll let you know how long it takes, it'll either be this weekend or next weekend.

I don't know about gains. I'm also doing LT headers, and am getting a cam in the near future. I've seen a gain of 20rwhp on a H+C car (can't remember who, either here of http://www.ls1tech.com). I think someone said it was only worth 5rwhp on an otherwise stock car, but I never saw before and after dynos of that.

You can get them cheap (399+23 shipping=$422) from http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...RTNUMBER=30039 . That includes the coolant line and block off bolts needed for a pre-2001 C5.

It took two of us about three hours to put it in but we changed the plugs too. The hardest part was trying to attach the vent tubes in back. As far as HP, the LT1 picked up only 5 and some additional torque with the LS6 manifold and a different cam but it comes on at lower rpm. Some guys (sorry ladies) say that the addition of the LS6 manifold with the LS1 cam produces more HP than what Chevy got out of it. I don’t know, but my friend does seem to think his car is quicker so, maybe…. - C.

GM only lists 5 extra hp out of the 2001 with the new intake. But that is not the whole story..

They only list the highest HP and TQ numbers..

What if between 2000 and 4000rpm the new intake produced 15 more ponies over the original?

You'd feel it.....But the final dyno numbers would never show it... You'd have to see the entire printout.. This is why I hate final dyno numbers.. They tell you nothing about what is happening to the engine across the entire rpm.

I went from 306RWHP to 311RWHP from headers and the LS6 intake manifold. LS1edit brought me to 324RWHP. You need tuning done if you want the maximum gains out of either mod.

chuckster,
That's what I ment when I said "it comes on at lower rpm". The HP curve did change but it's the torque curve that made the SOP differnce. I don't think adding the manifold without the cam on a slightly modded enging will buy you much. But, since gmf has some nice mods going, it will probably be benifical. - C.

I hope I get more than 5 RWHP, but I am really setting up for next season with the head/cam. I want to get my intake and exhaust completely done before I get a head/cam setup.

I am also getting a superchips reprogram with the headers/zo6 intake manifold.

Well hopefully who reads this can post some dyno sheets with the zo6 intake manifold??
