Default HELP!! AC not working on the drivers side...

I just recently had my steering wheel column lock fixed and when I drove it away from the dealership the driver side AC wasn't working but the passenger side was...

I went back to the dealership right away and he hooked up his computer and said some door was stuck...he cleared the codes and then it started working after he turned if off and started it again...

well I tried the same sort of the thing with autotap but I saw no codes and it is still not work...

Have any of you had this problem and is there anything I can do to fix this?

Yes, I've had the problem, too, only mine was reversed. The driver side worked but the passenger side blew lukewarm air all the time, no matter where you set the temp control ****. The first thing you should do is check to see if any DTC codes have been set. I'd do this through the on board DIC, it's easier. Mine had set the following code: 99 - HVAC 1 CODES B0446 H C. When I looked this code up in the manual, it told me that it menat: "RIGHT ACTUATOR OUT OF RANGE." The "H" meant it had a history of this problem occurring and the "C" meant that it was a current problem happening right now. I suspect that from your description you'll get a similar code. Only when you look it up it will most likely say: "LEFT ACTUATOR OUT OF RANGE." What this means is that your left side temperature door is stuck due to a faulty temp control actuator/motor. You can try a couple things to free it but you'll probably have to replace it, I did.

First you can try disconnecting your battery for 20 - 30 minutes, then reconnecting it. This will cause the BCM to cycle the temp doors through their full traverse, from full hot to full cold. This might free up the stuck temp door. Or, you can pull fuse # 27 from the passenger side footwell fuse box and then re-insert it. This will have the same effect on the temp doors. Neither of these remedies worked for me, although they are both described in the trouble shooting section of the service manual in the HVAC chapter. I had to replace the RH temp actuator/motor in my car. If you need to do this and your car is in warranty, you're in luck. Have the dealer do it. If not you can order the part from a forum member that I will recommend for about $65.00 delivered to your door. But that is the easy part. To install it, the entire dash, center console dash pad and glove box, including the passenger side airbag, have to come completely out of the car. That sucker is really burried in there. If you want the part, e-mail me and I'll put you in touch with the member who got me mine. He's about $15.00 less than GMPartsDirect before they add their shipping charges and those guys were the cheapest I had found. Good Luck and let us know what you find out when you pull the codes.

Thanks. I looked for codes with auto tap but found nothing. How do you view them through the DIC? I've never done that.

I'll try what you suggested and let you know. Thanks for the info. I'll keep you posted.
