On a 6 speed 2002 with 3:42 gears to go to 4:10 would require just changing just the ring gear,
or both the ring and pinion gears,
or the whole diff.? Also is that the biggest you could go?
How about 4:56 gears.
Comments anyone.
I may be wrong, but I think thats all weve got for now. You would probably want to buy the whole thing pre-assembled and put it in, I think you can buy just the gears though. There have been some issues with breaking so be warned.
Ring & pinion will cost $5xx, then you have to replace bearings, seals, etc...
Talk to ANDY at A&A corvette specialties, he did one himself. He said the saving is minimal compared to just buying the ready made diff..
As far as durability I've heard of one broken casing so far. I just got a 3.9 myself, hoping for good luck & a lasting relationship. :D
I've sold a few and the bigger vendors have sold a bunch. I've only heard of a couple of problems. I have the 4.10 and think it's great in a manual. I wouldn't think twice about doing it. definately the best bang for ther buck mod.
