I have a Tric and XR1....If I were to get a SY 3500...would I run into problems?
Do I need anything else, like 3.42s or a programmer(powerloader,hypertech,etc...)
I have the 3.15s, xr1, Tric/Mag, and Pilot sports. Can I just get this installed and no problems or do I need anything else.
Also....major issue....will this effect my daily drivability....this is my daily driver.
I think you might want to get 3.42s or 3.73s even if this is going to be your daily driver, the sy3500with 3.15s would be very loose, you might want to consider the yank 3000, 3200 and protorque 2400, these would be great with your gears for a daily driver, and you would be able to lay rubber at will with any of them :yesnod: :yesnod:
I guess I can buy the SY 3500 now and in a month or 2 get the 3.42s....now for the other part....do i need programming done(powerloader, hypertech,ls1 edit, etc.......)

yes you will probably need the programming to eliminate lockup issues, set shift points, full throttle and part throttle, also to control slip codes, though I dont know much about that issue. I should have the same conversion done in the next couple of weeks. Also you might want to consider a shift kit to firm up the mushy shifts caused by the tc, but that is personal preference, and you can firm them up some with the programming.
You should definately get 3.42's at least with a SY3500, otherwise, just get a Yank3000 and you won't need the gears and likely NO programming!
No matter when you buy everything (Gears and TC) get them installed at the same time since the placement of the TC and Gears are right next to each other. It costs about the same in labor to do both (Gears/TC) at the same time. If you do them seperate it will cost more and be a P.I.T.A.
If you do decide to just get a TC with 3.15's geat the Yank3000.
You will only need programming with the 3.42's and the SY3500. The programming will fix your shift points due to the approx. 9% increase the 3.42's will add to your shift points.
If $$ is at all an issue. I bet you will get 90% of the same feeling out of just the 3.15's and a Yank3000 with a 2.0 STR (Stall Torque Ratio) and will not NEED programming to drive it. if you get the 3.42's you WILL!
I already have a set of 3.42 gears and am just about to pull the trigger on a TC. I am looking at the SuperYank3500 myself. I am doing both because as long as the car is apart for the TC, might as well do the gears at the same time.
Good Luck!

I am doing the same thing. I have a y2k A4 with 2.73 rear end. Have the 3.42 carrier sitting in the garage. 50/50 chance that I will change the TQ, probably go with the SY3500. Probably install a shift kit and cooler while we are at it.
Not sure where I want to go with the programming. Probably won't be tweaking with the programming after this but.....you never know.
Too many choices, not enough knowledge.
Dealer reprogram to 3.15?
powerloader?
hypertech?
LS1 Edit?
Superchip?

We have done several 3.42 / SY3500 installs... we also highly recommend an external tranny cooler. Definitely no problems for daily driver use. Yes, reprogramming needs to be done... :)
I have the SY3500 and 3.15's, but I've never driving a C5 with the SY3500 and 3.42 combo. The SY3500/3.15's combo is looser than stock, but hardly.
On other message boards I read about Z28's and Firebirds with the SY3500/3.23's and even SY3500/2.73 combos, and thier owners being happy with them, I thought I'd give the SY3500/3.15 combo a try. And I'm glad I did.
The people on this board make it sound like your going to have to rev the crap out of the motor to get the car to move. It only takes a little more pedal to get the car to move or climb a driveway. And after you have LS1edit done(it's a must), driving on the parkway will feel the same as before.
As far as launching on the street, it's not a whole lot different. It's not super easy to spin your tires and kick the rear out, just a little easier than the stock converter. And once you get moving, the tach only drops to 4K rpms after each shift, and 100 mph comes noticeably faster. :)
I can't wait to get some experience at the strip with this new setup.
As for tranny temps, I don't have a cooler yet, but after being stuck in traffic yesterday my trans temps did not go above 193. And this is in 90 degree weather. Definitely not as bad as expected, but I'm still gonna go with a cooler, it's cheap insurance.
I'm not putting down anyone's advice down, but do yourself a favor and search. There's all the info you need out there. And please only listen to people who've already done this mod before. Such as Mikie C.
Please excuse any grammatical errors, I've been up for over 22 hours.
Good to hear this report, not many SY3500+3.15 C5s post here. My own experience (3.73s, not 3.15s though) is consistent in that the only time I really notice the looseness is when backing up or hill holding.
