Default Tranny flush

My 2001 C5 Base with 85000 miles, was suggested by GM dealer that a transmission flush would be OK. Have no issues with Tranny but feel that maintenance is important at 85000. Will Be done by GM if I decide, please advise.

If the trans is in good shape (no debris, or junk), just change the fluid and filter. The flush is a gimmick which could do more harm than good.

GM recommends changing the fluid and filter at 100,000 miles. It certainly wouldn't hurt to do it at 85,000 since your car is 13-14 year old depending on the in service date. If it was my car I would do it.
Some manufacturers want it done every 30k. With the switch to synthetic fluids, the 30k service is going away

Such an important part of the car. I would have it serviced. Not that expensive when you think about it that way. The diff as well. I picked up my 99 with 58k miles. Those were two of the first things I did. Just a good way to inspect the vehicle too. If the fluid comes out good, great. If it smells burnt or has metal shavings, you can anticipate a problem and maybe stop it before it happens.
