I need to replace the rear side marker on my 03 C5. It looks like the previous owner yanked the assembly out from the outside and broke both posts and had it glued on with God know what. I ordered what I thought was the correct part from GM Direct, but the posts that are supposed to be threaded are just smooth posts on the new assembly. The ones on the other side appear to be threaded and have nuts attached.
Any help in sorting this out would be appreciated.

Self threading nuts are your friend. Take the assembly to your local hardware store and match the nuts up to the studs.

I recently replaced mine but fortunately I had the original nuts. Be sure to thread the posts before installing them & thread them as far down as you safely can so they fit snug. Otherwise it's hard to get that last 1/8 turn with them in place.

These are the OE nuts used. They cut their own threads into the plastic the first time you tighten them down. Go slow and do not over tighten or they will break the stud. Just snug enough to where the light housing doesn't move and no more.
