Default Problem with EBCM, C1214 H C, even after relay replace.

Hello guys,

FYI, I have read maybe and possibly every single thread related to the C1214 code, and fixture of the EBCM relay.

As we all have seen with C5 Vettes, the C1214 is a code that follows many owners in this forum… Me, being one of them. My car is a 01 Z06, where I have replace the relay as many as 4 times, and every time, the code comes back. I have checked and clean the grounds certainly, as well as check the fuses under the hood (they look fine), but I cannot get rid of the “evil code” haha! And every time it comes back, it’s even worse, to point where the C1214 has “H” and “C” for long periods of time, and obviously I cannot clear it through the DIC, as I was able to.

I am not an expert on electronics, so I have come to think that maybe my soldering is not as good… Maybe I have to be more careful with it. But the point the keeps my mind totally mixed up , is that the EBCM is on the 4th relay… Have I trashed or mess up the circuit board?????

Any comments or input, will be appreciated.

You need to check the FEMALE pins inside the EBTCM Connector. Make sure that they are NOT spread apart and that they make proper FIRM contact with the male pin.

Use a DC Voltmeter/OHM Meter and male SURE that you have power and ground to the main connector.

If you doubt your solder ability, take it to a local TV repair shop and ask them to examine the solder job for you.

Thanks a lot for the replay Bill! I appreciate it a lot.

I will check the female pins in the EBCM conector cable that goes to it... Hoping for it to be the problem.

Now, about my soldering abilities I do not see it as the mayor problem, but once there at the fixing ground hehe! I will take it to a good electronic repair shop to hear what they think.

Thanks again Bill.
