Right now my vette is outside under a car cover. I am driving it if its sunny on the weekend, warming it up if anything.
Up here in the pnw we had a stretch of temperatures in the 20s and it snowed. I went out to start it and my SERVICE ABS and SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL lights came on. I used the search button and nothing came up related to cold weather and the service lights coming on.
Has anyone had these problems? And where should I go from here, I haven't driven it since the lights came on. Just starting it and warming up.
I left my scanner at my brothers house, Last time he had a code. picking it up tonight!
You are wasting your time using a scanner. You need to use the dic to read codes on a C5. A hand held scanner will not pick up all the traction control codes. Here is one link (there are many if you search) that explains how to use it. http://www.stengel.net/diccodes.htm
Obviously you did NOT read post #2 or watch the video I posted.
Your inexpensive scanner will ONLY pull emissions codes and NOT the vehicle specific codes that are more important. Don't waste your time with it unless you have HP Tuners or EFI Live..
Built in reader on the C5 is what you need to use.
I misread the YouTube link the first time I saw it. Just watched the video and helps so much. First thing after work tomorrow. I'll post the codes. Once again thank you for all your help!
The sensors themselves seldom fail What causes the problem is most often the wiring to the sensor gets damaged or the connector between the vehicle wiring and the sensor wiring gets corroded or the pins inside the connector fail to make adequate contact.
Remove the left front wheel and examine the wiring on both sides of the connector for damage and repair as needed. Separate the halves of the connector and examine the contact surfaces for corrosion or deformed surfaces. Clean/repair as needed.
Clear the codes and take the car for a drive. When you return pull the codes again to see if there are any that return or new ones that show up.
Thank you! I will do that the next dry day we get! I appreciate all the help!
