Default "service engine soon"

My SERVICE ENGINE" light continually blinks and I can't use the DIC to reset it because the DIC doesn't work. Is there any simple solution other than black electrical tape?

Use a scanner to see what is wrong. Then maybe you can fix it. (Or ask for help here to see what might be wrong.)

The scanner can reset the code also, so you can see if it recurs.

If you don't have a scanner, most auto parts stores will use their scanner for free.

Good luck.

(You might also want to fix the DIC. It is useful)

Clean the throttle body as a simple start solution you are looking for.

Blinking service light usually indicates a misfire on one or more cylinders. How does the car run? Auto parts store scanner can see most misfire codes and even tell you the cylinder.

This is true if the CEL is FLASHING, car should be running poorly.

If you can't see things that are supposed to be displayed on the DIC then you will have to go to place where they can read your codes. Service Engine Soon is a vague statement. On modern cars you need to know what codes have been generated so you can determine what is wrong. It makes things much simpler than the old days.
