I have the traction control and abs icons on the dash of my 98 vette. Also the messages read service vehicle soon, service traction control soon. Took it to the dealership and they said i need a bcm. cost: 1500 to 1800. I'm new at this , but i'm guessing i can get the part and have the dealer do the codes and everything. Any one that can help, Let me know. When i picked up the car the dealer said that its the ECM. Not the BCM. Hd that they couldnt communicate with the car. I'm gonna pull the codes and see what happens but i think that there are a lot of issues on this car. Thank you all!

Reason: the dealer said that it was the ECM that needed replaced. not BCM
sounds like a poor diagnosis to me. All those errors sound like possibly a grounding issue or multiple issues going on. Search YouTube for a video on pulling the codes on a C5 then write down the codes you get. Next, clear them and take it for a drive and see what returns. Post them up.
It would be rare for the bcm to cause these problems. Sounds like an ignorant or just plain dishonest dealer. Use the dic to pull the codes and see for yourself.
You guys keep saying it wrong... Its pronounced STEALER or STEALERSHIP!
They also have a DISSERVICE Manager in the repair department
I agree,,, make sure that you read the DTCs with the engine running after a short drive. If you turn the ignition OFF, you could miss some valuable DTCs as it resets some of the DTCs at ignition OFF.
